Rules and controls
  • At the start all squares of the grid are white. You take turns blackening one white square. The black squares belong to nobody.
  • A line is a row or a column, in pro mode also a diagonal, each from edge to edge. As soon as all squares of a line are black, it is caught.
  • A line only counts from 3 squares: short diagonals in the corners with only 1 or 2 squares do not exist in pro mode.
  • You can recognise caught lines by the marks in the black squares: an orange cross for Person 1, a blue square for Person 2. The mark shows who last caught a line across that square. With the “Thin strokes” setting, caught lines are instead drawn as a thin stroke in the colour of the person, and there are no marks.
  • Whoever completes a line with their own move gets as many points as the line has squares. If one square completes several lines at once, all of them count.
  • Whoever has completed one or more lines must blacken one more square afterwards and plays again.
  • The game ends when all squares are black. Whoever has more points wins. If the points are equal, it is a draw.
  • Tip: A square that almost completes a line gives the point to the other person. Wait until the other person is forced to “open up” a line.
  • Controls: tap or click a square, check the preview and confirm with “Place”. With a mouse, a double-click blackens the square straight away. With the keyboard, choose a square with the arrow keys and blacken it with Enter.
